WP4.4 Assignments and Evaluation

WP4.4.1 Assignments

Student's assessment methods are based on assignments to be worked out, written and oral examinations.

The assignments are practical tasks given to the users of the course. Their aim is to develop practical skills of course users. Each learner is required to complete his/her assignment and hand it in on the first day of examination of particular module. Assignments topics are distributed together with the course material of each module so there is enough time provided for the user to work on them.

  1. Written examinations consist of short- and long-answers tests. Short-answers test contains more questions, on which only short answers are required. This kind of test targets on understanding of basic definitions, principles and concepts by the learner. Long-answers test contains fewer questions which require long conceptual understanding and analyzing approach of the user.
  2. Short - and long-answers tests comprise so-called Self-examinations. These are written tests distributed over the Internet in a specific time (at the end of each module). Each learner is required to complete them with given deadline and return them to the Consortium. The distribution and collection is organized entirely using the Internet. The examinations are scheduled to take place during the last week of each course.
  3. Second form of examinations is the Final Examination. It is the only examination requiring personal participation of each learner. It takes place at the very end of the course, after all the modules and Self-examinations have been completed. Final Examination consists of short test and oral examination, both covering all the subjects. There is a choice of places and time given to the learners for taking the Final Examination.
WP 4.4.2 Evaluation

Course grades will be determined as follows:

  • 10%: Class participation with passing all individual home work.
  • 20%: Midterm presentation: Students will be expected to have completed the first four steps of their term paper. Each student will prepare a 15 minute presentation to the class and receive a feedback.
  • 50%: Paper: Students will conduct an instructional design of their choice and describe it in an 8-10 page paper. The paper should include: the instructional goal, the instructional analysis, entry characteristics, performance objectives, test items, the instructional strategy and a brief description of some sort of formative evaluation and revision.
  • 20%: Multimedia implementation of design: Students will partially implement the designs described in their term paper.
